How To Make Sugar Scrub?
First, you need to mix the essential oil, sugar, and oil in a glass bowl. The ingredients are detailed below, depending on which recipe you choose to make. Make sure you use a wooden spoon (avoid using plastic) until it is thoroughly mixed.
Secondly, check if the texture is grainy and crumble-like. If it is, you have your sugar scrub!
Next, you can scoop it into mason jars or any glass jars with a tight seal and put it aside, ready for your next “spa at home” session.
You can use the step-by-step instructions for both Body Sugar Scrub and Lip Sugar Scrub recipes. After that use these free downloadable labels to label the scrubs.

I found a great Peppermint Sugar Scrub recipe courtesy of LivingWellMom for you to try. There are only 4 ingredients, and so easy to do it at home.
- 5-10 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil
- ¾ cup of fine sugar
- ¼ cup of coconut oil

How to Use The Sugar Scrub?
Firstly you need to wash your skin from makeup, dirt, or sweat.
Next, prepare your skin for exfoliation by soaking your skin under warm water for about 5 to 10 minutes to soften your skin.
Lukewarm water is advisable because if the water is too hot, it can dry out your skin. If you need to shave, do it before applying the sugar scrub to avoid irritation.
Scoop 1-2 tablespoons of sugar scrub and rub it into your skin in a circular motion. Start scrubbing from the top of your body and work down. Scrub it gently to your skin as you do not want to “over-scrub” as it could damage your skin.
Leave it for a couple of minutes, and then rinse it off. Pat dry your skin gently and apply your favorite body lotion or body oil. This is to moisturize your skin and leave your skin soft and silky.

What Else Do I Need to Know about Sugar Scrub?
Even though the sugar scrub is homemade and you know exactly what you put in it, it should not be a part of your daily routine.
It can irritate your skin if you over-exfoliate. It is recommended to use sugar scrub 1-2 times per week.
If your skin is highly sensitive or sunburned, please do not use a sugar scrub on it.

How Do I Store My Homemade Sugar Scrub?
The sugar scrub recipes that I used and share is using essential oils. Therefore it is vital to keep the homemade sugar scrubs in glass containers.
The benefits of glass containers are to avoid an earlier expiration date of the essential oils used in the sugar scrub. Other factors such as heat, sunlight, moisture, and oxygen can affect your handmade products’ end too.
The glass packaging is also clear, sustainable, reusable, and safer to store your handmade products. It looks beautiful and perfect packaging for gifts too.
Sugar Scrubs vs. Salt Scrubs
Sugar scrub is less abrasive and helps in manual exfoliation of your skin. It can exfoliate and remove dead skin cells and reveal new skin.
The sugar scrub can also help to remove toxins from your skin. Pollutions, pesticides, or UV rays are some of the toxins that contribute to premature aging. By using sugar scrub consistently on your skin can keep you looking young.
Salt scrub also helps in manual exfoliation to your skin, with added benefits of detoxing too! It works similarly with sugar scrubs by removing dead skin cells.
Your body has certain areas that are many dryers such as feet, legs, elbows, and hands. The salt scrub is more suitable for this area which can remove dead skin while restoring your skin. However, it is not suitable for people with sensitive skin as it can easily irritate their skin.
